We have been putting designs in the bottom of the copitas for restaurants, mezcalerias, weddings – now we have one of our own! The design is of an Aztec sun, and the glossy black glaze pools up in the design making it beautiful and unique.

What are copitas??
Not long ago I received a special order for a set of Mezcal shot glasses called copitas. After a little research I discovered that Mezcal is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from the maguey plant (a form of agave) native to Mexico. The maguey grows in many parts of Mexico, though most mezcal is made in Oaxaca. There is a saying attributed to Oaxaca regarding the drink: “para todo mal, mezcal, y para todo bien también” (“for everything bad, mezcal; for everything good, the same”).
