This is a lovely handmade pottery set of two brown glazed copitas with a hand stamped serving tray. The tray is long enough to hold the 2 copitas and some orange slices with chili – the traditional way to serve mezcal.
What are copitas??
A few years ago, I received a special order for a set of Mezcal shot glasses called copitas. After a little research, I discovered that Mezcal is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from the maguey plant (a form of agave) native to Mexico. The maguey grows in many parts of Mexico, though most mezcal is made in Oaxaca. There is a saying attributed to Oaxaca regarding the drink: “para todo mal, mezcal, y para todo bien también” (“for everything bad, mezcal; for everything good, the same”).
2 Brown Copitas measure: 1 1/2″ tall and 2 3/4″ wide holds 2 oz.
1 Brown Stamped Tray: 7.5″x4″x.5″
